Facing Failure - Better the Ball

I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I have lost almost 300 games.
Twenty-six times I have been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed.
I have failed over and over and over again.

And that is why I succeed!

This is the final frontier where no-one is prepared to travel. This forum is purely interactive, there are no modules, no workbooks, no journals and definitely no Power Point. The program is called "Better the Ball" with the essence being on how do we improve on our current position, regardless of how we arrived in it!

This truly experiential session, brings you face to face with failure and how we negotiate it. The forum is usually run using a variety of individuals including several TV personalities and sporting stars.

It explores what motivates us – highlighting the 2 theories of motivation which suggest an individual is either motivated to succeed or motivated to avoid failure. Individuals who are motivated to avoid failure will strive for mediocrity while those motivated to succeed are usually standing on the podium.

Motivation to avoid failure

Reaction to failure

Motivation to Succeed

Reaction to failure

Decrease effort/intensity Redirect and increase effort and intensity
Increase cheating/blaming Increase focus
Increase in excuses Ownership of error
Failure = threat to ego Failure = stepping stone to success

Training Schedule

Usually a 3 hour session however this programs will also serve very nicely as a fireside type chat or as the conclusion to another workshop
